Running a D1 program

Hello everyone and welcome back to class!

Today we’re talking standards, the high ones!! Because if you want to be hot and cool, you have to be the first one to set some high standards and be the first one to meet them!!

And before you can expect amazing things from other people in the world, you gotta put yourself in tip top shape: things you do, who you are, and how you show up every single day.

Before we get into it, my credentials:

Having high standards doesn’t mean you’re doing everything 100% perfect all the time.

It means deciding what your personal bare minimum is.

When you have big ambitious goals for things you want or who you want to be, standards are how you expect yourself to behave while you’re working towards it.

Be your favorite kind of person!!

We all want thoughtful friends, communicative coworkers, supportive boyfriends and girlfriends, generous bosses, and people who follow through.

Soooo fair

But are you being thoughtful? Are you leaving people guessing or are you communicating clearly? Are you going the extra mile for the homies?

Would you enjoy hanging out with YOU??

One slip doesn’t mean it’s over.

Waking up late one day doesn’t mean you’re not locked in. Missing one workout doesn’t mean your whole routine is shot. One post flopping on social doesn’t mean you have nothing to say. Feeling insecure in a new environment doesn’t erase everything you’re capable of!!

The standard isn’t never slipping. It’s about how fast you can bounce back!!

Ultimately, having high standards is less about constantly demanding more from yourself when you mess up and more about deciding how you want to react and adjust to make a different decision next time.

You don’t have to reinvent your entire life tomorrow morning (I am guilty of trying to do this). Just pick one area of your life where you know you’re capable of more, and take one step to do it.

Keep your promises to yourself.

Every time you follow through on a promise to yourself, you collect a tiny piece of evidence that you can trust yourself (this is how confidence is built btw).

Every time you don’t, you collect evidence in the opposite direction :(

That doesn’t mean you can never change your mind or make adjustments. It means you don’t abandon yourself or your plan the second something becomes inconvenient.

The tea is you gotta run a strict, D1 program for your life. And once your elevate yourself, everything else follows 🧘🏻‍♀️

POV: you did everything you said you were gonna do

Weekly reminder that we CANNOT be losing our minds!!

Did you know that walking just 3,000 - 5,000 steps a day delays cognitive decline by 3 whole years??!?!

And walking 5,000 - 7,500 steps a day can delay it by about 7 years!!

Guys, that’s not even 10k…easy peasy.

The science: Higher step counts may help slow the buildup of tau proteins in the brain. When too much tau builds up, it can damage and eventually kill nerve cells (and abnormal tau buildup is one of the hallmarks of Alzheimer’s disease).

Literally go take a hot girl walk right now.

Walk with meeeee

Chanty Beluga has been taking (some parts) of the internet by storm these last few weeks.

She’s a character/meme/seemingly normal millennial woman who ends up in situations where she has to introduce herself with her rather peculiar name, like not seeing her name on a gift store keychain or getting into an Uber.

I did some digging, and Chanty Beluga isn’t even a real person, it’s comedian Cortney O’Donnell. She made the first Chanty video goofing around on set of a movie she’s in. The rest is history I guess!

I honestly couldn’t tell you why the internet is having a field day with this one. My theory is because “Chanty Beluga” is fun to say and it’s just a good bit.

It’s so good that even the Jonas Brothers and the world of RushTok hopped on the trend…so you better know it, too!
